These photos are of real potholes or street puddles in our town streets. We claim to have more potholes per capita than most towns, indeed some residents claim we have the very worst streets in the U.S.! It may even be true... Personally I have found a way to enjoy our amazing potholes, which sometimes offer a hit of unexpected beauty. Maybe this series, The Surprisingly Artistic Potholes of Port Townsend, could become part of a fundraiser for street repair one day! In the meantime, it is quite popular among my friends and acquaintances. I don't hesitate to enhance and manipulate many of the more monochromatic photos for our enjoyment. But I find that a surprising number of pothole photos don't need to be enhanced: the art is in the puddles & potholes already!
