Sometimes I can’t resist a good special effect, while trying out ideas for completing a piece!

Working on the Moon: are we having fun yet?
Climbing Egg
This is the last prepared blank duck egg in my collection: now it is the “scribble egg” or the “climbing egg”.
I do have one more blank egg: it is an ostrich egg! It needs some prep work before I can draw on it. It seems to have a fairly glossy coating that I probably have to sand before I work on it. Also I want to think about how to display it, and decide whether to fill the conspicuous holes used to empty it.
And another piece framed
This is a somewhat problematic mixed media work. It started with a scan of an incomplete more traditional mixed media “drawing”, but has significant digital modifications & additions.
So as I see it, this is a fine art mixed media print. It is not a copy, in that there is no original. It a a multiple medium, like other fine art printmaking.
Thinking about choosing artwork to display in July
I am on Susie’s list for art on the walls at 1012 Coffee Bar in July. I have lots of new work ready to hang; work that has not been displayed in town. But how to choose? I want to have professional looking “show”, with works that look good together and in this narrow display space. I would also like to price the work suitably, and choose some work that might actually sell (so probably something fairly affordable). Of course I don’t want to under price work that I would just as soon keep to hang at home, or might hope to show off in a gallery somewhere.
I could frame and show some digital prints as well as original works, and price them accordingly. But P.T. art customers probably don’t buy framed copies much, when there is a lot of affordable original work around. I should probably give up on the idea of sales. The odds are that nothing will sell, and that would certainly simplify things!
But I still don’t know what to show!
I think I need help!
More work on… STOP!
The last fairly subtle changes barely show up at this resolution: the piece is approx. 24″ x 18″, and I have to scan it in four parts. This low resolution image does not show the impact of some of the recent shadings and added color.
Recent changes mean I scan twice, then merge down onto an earlier full scan. Getting it all aligned is a real pain, and I know I am off by a few pixels… and those errors multiply! Very tedious.
You may even note the small changes (especially to upper left curved “twig”) in this photograph taken after framing (too lazy to take out and rescan now!) As you can see, the lighting & color are rather different in the photo (vs. the scanned image at top).
Some fence sections in my yard
The box spring panel screens my trashcans (and anchors them on windy days).
