Bluestone Paver

P.T. Artist Sandra Stowell Posted on September 17, 2017 by ptartistSeptember 18, 2017

Doing a bit of freehand “drawing” in stone.  Started with the chisel, but this is hard, hard stuff! So got out the power tool of choice:  a “Eurotool Flexible shaft machine” which takes all the usual 1/8″ bits. I have to change a few things, spend many hours refining & finishing, and expect to practice some polishing technique on this one.

Oh, and while I am at it, let me foil it:

Balancing Act

P.T. Artist Sandra Stowell Posted on August 28, 2017 by ptartistSeptember 8, 2017

The past 3 weeks have been for family, not for art.  But now some balance:

“Balancing Act”?  or “On the Balance”?

An exquisite but damaged teapot is balanced with a Buddhist monk carrying an alms bowl in my new bit of yard art… 🙂

Worm Castings

And that is Michael’s “piggy” at right in the first photo! My piece is not finished, but the power tool speeded up the progress of getting some depth in that very very hard corner.  Still considering how much variation in finish level and finish texture I want to keep …  but it is all about having fun, and it is fun!   I will have a very sore hand and wrist, and more tonight though…

Mrs. Scarab Beetle

P.T. Artist Sandra Stowell Posted on August 3, 2017 by ptartistSeptember 8, 2017

About 3 inches long, very soft fractured alabaster:  fragile! But fun … for this Egyptian born UK citizen.  Story:

Mrs. Scarab Beetle is a guardian figure from my place of birth:  Alexandria, Egypt.  She offers comfort, but is very fragile so must of course be cared for most tenderly, like all good things.
