Selling art products

P.T. Artist Sandra Stowell Posted on May 11, 2017 by ptartistMay 15, 2017

Hiding from the world & myself, wasting time:   hours & hours uploading images of my art to a couple of on demand product sites.

I have some stuff on Society6 (never sold anything there except to myself), and have been trying to get set up on Zazzle, only to find out that although they do set up and print products, the big draw for me is the personal storefront you can create, advertise, link to, etc.

BUT there is a big delay with Zazzle, ongoing, so that newly defined products take a long time show up in “stores” even when you manage to do everything correctly. This has been a problem that gets reports & comments on & off for years, and it seems that most products do not get into stores for a week or even much longer due to Zazzle indexing software issues.

This I find out after spending hours, by reading through a user forum!  No warnings on the site for sellers to expect delays!

But now few of my art on Zazzle products are available in my new “store”:

My Society6 “storefront” is functional, but has anomalies (a broken graphic, and no way to fix!) and lacks organization;  it is not customizable.

What Dreams May Come

P.T. Artist Sandra Stowell Posted on May 9, 2017 by ptartistMay 9, 2017

This phrase sounds most benign, almost cozy, removed from the context of Hamlet’s soliloquy.  But within the context, it alludes to a huge fear that indeed there may be “something after death” that will not be pleasant!

This fear is surely closely tied to the fact that none of us can conceive of the “nothingness” that so many of us believe will be our ending.  It is that inability to imagine nonexistence that creates the stories that many religions perpetrate.

And of course this fear of what comes after death goes hand in hand with our fear of what we will experience leading into our deaths.  Most of us wish for what may be a contradiction:  we hope to be well prepared for our death (somehow), but also that death will come quickly, painlessly, too suddenly to even surprise us!

We are only able to speculate on what might constitute a “good death”.  So best not dwell on these thoughts for too long :-), but it is difficult when friends or family die.

I am envisioning a much larger gameboard using these 4″x6″ pieces created on a watercolor pad. I have two originals so far, but already three foils!   And of the course the “squares” won’t be 🙂
