Two Days
Two days “off” from concrete & sculpture = Two days of printmaking. At the very last minute I decided to honor my commitment to produce a set of prints for the Corvidae 2016 Print Exchange. Only 13 prints required this year, 8″ x 10″ or smaller plates, using two passes / two processes (any processes but each artists should use the same two processes for all prints, but the prints need not be identical).
So the printing is done, the prints are almost dry, and now I need to sign, number, and select 13 from the edition of 15 to put in the Exchange.
I was wildly enamored of them at first, now I am at the fault finding stage, and find them sloppy, crude, and inadequate. I think I may like them again tomorrow!
And NOT in the Print Exchange:

Men with hearts
Larger armature
DId someone say “I thought these would be life-size?” Well, eventually there will be at least one! This is a start at the armature, using a damaged tomato cage for a start on the torso & head. No, the green bucket is not part of this … and there will be many more days work before I drape the armature in cement soaked fabric. I am thinking the legs happen separately, and attach later on, TBD.
Poured Today
Pour tomorrow
Here I have two figure cast from the first two “Conversation” molds, then the two new molds (male figures), and then one original mold, with the two new (& I hope much better) molds set up and ready for the concrete “pour” tomorrow. The first molds were silicone, the new ones are latex rubber. While the new outer “mother” molds are much better (stronger and properly fitted), the rubber may be less durable, as I started these with some old material which quickly became lumpy! Just hope I can get 5-6 figures from each, then I will be happy enough…
